- Omaheke region lies on the Eastern Border of Namibia and is the Western extensions of the Kalahari desert. The Region's name is the Herero word for "Sandveld"
- Area: 84,981km2
- Population: 71,233 (2011)
- Constituencies: Aminuis, Epukiro, Gobabis, Kalahari, Otjinene, Otjombinde and Steinhausen.
The Region is one of the countries main producers of meat with most of the 900 commercial and 3500 communal farmers that are making a living from cattle breeding. The region's Capital are connected with Windhoek by rail and a tarred road (B6) and this infrastructure serves as the main supply line for the region.
As all the other population centers in the region are linked to Gobabis by excellent gravel roads, many other services are rendered from Gobabis.
Hunting, including trophy hunting, is one of the major sources of income for the region. This takes place mainly in the winter months, from June to August. During these months, tourists from the northern hemisphere can be seen in the area, enjoying the mild and dry winter climate and collecting trophies.
The B6 Main road that runs through the region are also part of the Trans Kalahari Network, linking Namibia, Botswana and South Africa with an excellent tarred trunk road.
